The Unix Timestamp Converter turns a timestamp into a date, or a date into epoch seconds or milliseconds. It works out whether a number is in seconds, milliseconds, microseconds or nanoseconds and shows the result in UTC and the timezone you pick.
Step by step
- Enter a timestamp such as
1700000000, a date such as2026-09-17 14:30, ornow. - Pick a timezone. Dates typed without an offset are read as local time in that zone.
- Open More options if auto-detection picks the wrong unit.
- Copy the result or share a link that reopens the same conversion.
Example
Unix timestamp (s) 1700000000
Unix timestamp (ms) 1700000000000

| 15 to 17 | Microseconds |
| 18 or more | Nanoseconds |
Seconds or milliseconds?
JavaScript’s Date.now() returns milliseconds, while PHP’s time() and most databases use seconds. Mixing them puts dates in 1970 or far in the future. In WordPress, wp_date( 'Y-m-d H:i', $timestamp ) formats a timestamp in the site’s timezone.
